Understanding the Issue
If you notice that a Google review is missing from your business profile, it is likely that the review has been flagged and permanently removed from Google’s system. Once this happens, the review cannot be recovered. There are no archive tabs, hidden folders, or back-end tools available to view or restore the text of a deleted review.
Why Reviews Disappear?
Google utilizes automated spam filters to moderate the reviews posted by users. While these filters help protect businesses from fake or inappropriate feedback, they can sometimes be overly strict and remove legitimate reviews by mistake.
Solution 1: Escalate the Issue to Google Support
When a review has been removed, you can escalate the matter to Google Support to have a human agent review the situation. The following steps outline the process:
Visit the Google Business Profile Help Center.
Select your business from the options provided.
Enter "Missing review" in the issue description and choose "Review missing" from the category list.
Opt for the Email submission method to send your case.
Pro-Tip: Strengthen your case by including a screenshot of the original review text or providing the exact Google profile name of the customer who posted the review.
Solution 2: Request a Resubmission (Quickest Workaround)
If you are able to contact the customer directly, the quickest way to restore the review is to ask them to repost it. To increase the chances of the review being accepted by Google’s filters, suggest the following:
Ask the customer to slightly modify the wording of their review.
Encourage them to specifically mention the service that was provided.
These minor adjustments often help the review bypass the automated filter and allow it to be published instantly.
Note: In some cases, Google may also reinstate previously removed or missing negative reviews. Businesses should be prepared to monitor their review profile regularly and address any reinstated reviews promptly and professionally.
